Duchesne/Cole Residence

The primary considerations for this house were to reduce heating and cooling costs with the intention of reducing the impact on the environment and creating a modern aesthetic while maintaining some of the original character of the building.

The house was completed gutted and insulated and all the windows replaced. A geo thermal system was implemented, which allowed for easy installation of radiant in-floor heating in the basement floor slab.

The ground floor layout was planned to reflect the growing needs of a modern family. The modern open concept layout consists of the family room at the rear kitchen and dining at the centre of the house and living room at the front. The windows at the rear of the building were replaced with wall to wall glazing creating a connection to the garden. The second and third floor layout retained and replicated some of the original plan but introduced a modern master bedroom with en suite bathroom and two additional bathrooms.

Project size 4000 sq.ft.
