Our work on the McKellar Landing project included a needs analysis, design, costing and implementation guidelines. The objective was to maintain and attract economic development as part of the larger economic development strategy for McKellar Township.
The implementation strategy was based on the feasibility of a private/public joint venture for a “gateway facility” that introduces the public to the area and region. Public meetings, client advisory team workshops and heritage research provided the foundation for guidelines recommending green site development (with on-site storm water management treatment), articulated pedestrian realm and environmental protection zones.
The gateway facility acts as a family friendly trailhead for hikes, kayaks and canoe exploration of the multi-lake waterway system.
Gross Floor Area : 6,000 sq. ft. + public park, playground, marina services, pedestrian bridge.
